If you've followed my blog for a while you'll probably know how big a fan I am of the film An American Werewolf in London already and I've sketched and written about the film here before. I could probably watch this film every month and not tire of it but I force myself to have a sizeable gap between viewings for a few films so that I appreciate the event more. I watched American Werewolf yesterday and you guessed it I couldn't resist sketching.
The werewolf transformation scene is so iconic, at the time in won an Oscar for Rick Baker in Outstanding Achievement in Makeup. I love the pace of the film and the fact that they had a great looking werewolf costume/puppet that worked incredibly well but didn't over use it. The long shot of the businessman on the escalator and the werewolf just comes into viewing padding its way to the start of the stairs before it cuts is a great example, brilliant.
Yeah it's a great film and I can't wait until next year when I watch it again. And its got Frank Oz in it too :)
